Nestled in a grove of black locust trees, this renovation of an 1850’s farmhouse had the seemingly contradictory mandate of increasing usable space without increasing the building’s footprint. A change in the profile of the roof as well as a reorganization of interior spaces enabled comfortable living spaces for a family of four, as well as a generous office and the provision for single-floor living as a long-term consideration.
